⚠️ Before you panic: Check your tracking status first on LiveSpeedPost. Many times, the parcel is just delayed at a transit hub and will be delivered in a day or two.
Step 1: Check Your Tracking Status
The first thing you should do is track your Speed Post using your 13-character consignment number. Look at the tracking timeline to understand where your parcel currently is:
- •"Item Received" at a post office means it's still in transit
- •"Out for Delivery" means the postman is carrying it — wait till end of day
- •"Item Returned" means delivery failed — contact the post office immediately
- •"Item Not Found" might mean tracking data hasn't been updated yet — wait 24-48 hours
Step 2: Wait for the Expected Delivery Time
Speed Post has standard delivery timeframes. Before filing a complaint, make sure the expected delivery time has passed:
Metro ↔ Metro
1-2 days
Metro ↔ Capital
2-3 days
Other Areas
3-6 days
Step 3: Contact the Delivery Post Office
If the tracking shows your parcel has reached the delivery post office but hasn't been delivered, contact that post office directly. You can find the post office phone number at India Post's website or use our Pincode Search tool.
Step 4: File a Complaint Online (India Post CRM)
If contacting the post office doesn't resolve the issue, file an official complaint through India Post's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) portal:
- 1Visit the India Post CRM portal at ccc.cept.gov.in
- 2Click on "Register Complaint"
- 3Select "Speed Post" as the complaint type
- 4Enter your consignment number (tracking number)
- 5Fill in your details — name, email, phone number
- 6Describe the issue clearly — delayed delivery, damaged parcel, etc.
- 7Submit the complaint and save the complaint reference number
Step 5: Call the India Post Helpline
You can also reach India Post customer service directly:

- Contact the Superintendent of Post Offices (SPO) for your region.
- Write to the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) of your state.
- File a complaint on the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) at pgportal.gov.in.
- For Speed Post, you can claim the money-back guarantee at the booking post office if delivery was delayed beyond the guaranteed time.
Money-Back Guarantee
One of the biggest advantages of Speed Post is its money-back guarantee. If India Post fails to deliver your Speed Post within the promised time frame, you can claim a full refund of the postage charges at the booking post office. Simply bring your original receipt and tracking number.
💡 Pro Tip: Always keep your India Post receipt safe until your parcel is delivered. You need it for filing complaints and claiming the money-back guarantee.
